The Corydon Scenic Railroad regrets to announce that increased operating costs have resulted in a corporate decision to cease operation of its seasonal passenger train service. In recent years Corydon Scenic Railroad has diligently attempted to increase ridership and control expenses. However, the measures undertaken by the company have not been successful and the company has continued to experience losses.
Corydon Scenic Railroad is very proud of having provided a safe and entertaining service to more than 250,000 passengers over the past fourteen years. Corydon Scenic Railroad is very proud of the quality service provided by its employees and their efforts to introduce our riders to the warm experience of historic Corydon. Our sincere thanks to the employees, passengers, local business people, and the many others who helped make the train ride such a pleasant experience over the years.
We will miss the excitement of passenger trains departing from the Corydon depot and the conductor’s cry of “All AAABOOOAAARD. Good-bye, old friends.
